Comes as a limited, colored Vinyl edition (black & white swirl) in gatefold. Hellhammer existed for only two years, from May 1982 to May 1984. During this time, the band recorded three demos, a 12' EP (Apocalyptic Raids), the legendary death metal compilation album, as well as a series of unreleased songs. Given Hellhammer's now mythical status in the global metal scene, it is almost unimaginable that the majority of this music was never performed live for almost four decades. Hellhammer's successor band, Celtic Frost, founded by former Hellhammer members Tom Gabriel Warrior and Martin Eric Ain, initially played two Hellhammer songs, but eventually gave up this habit as the band quickly developed their own material. The band Triptykon, founded by Tom Gabriel Warrior in 2008, has occasionally performed a rare Hellhammer song at notable concerts. However, the majority of Hellhammer's work remained unperformed until the release of 'Triumph Of Death.' The revival of Hellhammer's music was an idea that Tom Gabriel Warrior and Martin Eric Ain had been discussing for many years, sparked by their renewed collaboration in the reformed Celtic Frost in the 2000s. The first steps towards realizing 'Triumph Of Death,' named after Hellhammer's most famous song and intended as a very respectful and authentic homage to Hellhammer, were finally taken in 2014, and the band was officially formed in Autumn 2019. Triumph Of Death consists of people who not only love this music but also truly understand it. Since its inception, Triumph Of Death has played a number of highly acclaimed concerts, such as at Hellfest (France), Wacken Open Air (Germany), Party.San (Germany), Brutal Assault (Czech Republic), Psycho Las Vegas (USA), Merry Christless (Poland), Inferno Festival (Norway), Maryland Deathfest (USA), UK Deathfest, Hell's Heroes Festival (USA), and Mexico Metal Fest. From the beginning, the band had the intention of releasing live recordings from some of these concerts. Triumph Of Death is an ongoing project based in Zurich, Switzerland. This debut live album captures Hellhammer in its most original and vital form, alive on stage, and is a document of what extreme metal fans around the world have experienced since the band's formation. The album was recorded at three festival performances in 2023 in Houston (USA), Munich (GER), and Barroselas (PT). The double LP edition includes a 24-page booklet, a band poster, and an art card print. The CD is a 24-page deluxe mediabook. Meer lezen
