Limited edition release on yellow vinyl. Limited to 500 copies. Engst release their third studio album with ‘Irgendwas ist immer’. The fundamental sound of the 13 new songs is quite often melancholic but still pushes forward musically. There’s a wide range of drums, euphoria-soaked brass, a guitar sound that gives off a ‘hearty headlock’ vibe – and of course the voice of Matthias Engst. Trained in punk and hardcore, irked by life – but surprisingly at the same time often, well, mass-compatible. It’s not easy to describe this effect, but let’s put it this way: Matthias Engst could be the next Tim Bendzko, Mark Forster or Ben Zucker with this voice. These comparisons aren’t meant as a diss, but just that if he wanted to make smooth radio music, he’s also got the perfect mainstream voice for it. Sometimes Engst even play with just that.
