Appearing in Limited Edition on colored Vinyl (ruby red) in gatefold. The Grammy-nominated heavy Rock band Baroness returns with their new Album STONE. The Philadelphia-based quartet, consisting of John Baizley (guitar/vocals/illustration), Gina Gleason (guitar), Nick Jost (bass), and Sebastian Thomson (drums), has streamlined the immense multigenre vocabulary of their critically acclaimed predecessor Gold & Grey (2019, DE# 14) on their sixth Album 'STONE'. This is still very much Baroness - just newly focused to be more efficient and reimagined as a result of stability. The standout tracks from STONE, 'Last Word,' 'Beneath the Rose,' 'Shine,' and 'Anodyne,' reflect thoughtfully, groove, and effortlessly break the tumult. While Baroness was writing STONE, Baizley recorded and mixed the Album himself. After the group finished recording drums, guitars, and bass, they brought everything back to Baizley's basement - where parts of Gold & Grey were also recorded - to record vocals and add other details. STONE was then handed over to Grammy-nominated mixmaster Joe Barresi (Kyuss, Alice In Chains) and Grammy-winning mastering guru Bob Ludwig (Led Zeppelin, Nirvana) at Gateway Mastering Studios for final mixing and polishing. Baroness received a Grammy® Award nomination for the song 'Shock Me' (from the 2015 Album Purple) in the category of 'Best Metal Performance.' Purple was praised worldwide: Pitchfork wrote that it contained 'some of the biggest and strongest songs Baroness has ever written,' and Mojo declared that 'Baroness has delivered their masterpiece.' The Album received numerous accolades at the end of the year, including 'Shock Me' ranking number 10 on Entertainment Weekly's Top 40 Songs of 2015, number 6 on Pitchfork's Best Metal Albums of 2015, and number 7 on Rolling Stone's 20 Best Metal Albums of 2015.
