Baest (the Danish word for ‘beast’) are a classic death metal quintet from Denmark who have only been active since 2015 and are the common musical denominator of Bloodbath, Dismember, Bolt Thrower and a bit of the 90s Morbid Angel. Mastered by Lawrence Mackrory (LIK, Firespawn, Decapitated), their debut album ‘Danse Macabre’ features blazing guitars in top Swedish style. The Boss HM-2 Pedal is miraculous, frontman Simon’s vocals are wonderfully deep and the songs are gripping yet diversified thanks to various atmospheric twists, furious blasts, excellent melodies and steamrolling passages. In short: Not one death metal fan should miss out on these red-hot newcomers! Baest are also just as explosive on stage. Guitarists Svend and Lasse and bassist Matthias headbang so hard it’s a wonder their heads stay on, and vocalist Simon delivers a thrilling, manic performance. The band have already played at Roskilde, Copenhell and Eurosonic, and have supported the bands Hatebreed, Dying Fetus, Entombed A.D. and Illdisposed.
